Languages & Literature

In our ever-globalizing world, language skills are in huge demand.

So for those interested in learning or improving on a second (or third, or even fourth!) language, earning a degree in it from a Canadian university can be a great way to make yourself more attractive to future employers – particularly when you combine your studies in it with those in another academic area.

For example; for a student that is interested in pursuing business in South America in future, one option could be for them to major in economics, while taking a minor in Spanish. In addition, many of our universities’ language departments also provide unique exchange programs as part of their curriculum – offering students’ an exciting chance to earn a Canadian degree, while at the same time experiencing a new culture and practicing their linguistic skills, immersed in a language’s own region of origin!

Or, if literature – reading the words of great writers and thinkers – is more your interest, you can also concentrate your studies specifically in this area. In edition to a range of English literature options, most university language departments also have unique literature courses, allowing students’ to study foreign literature while improving on another language at the same time.
