Set at the foot of Mount Tolmie, UVic is a forested campus that combines natural beauty with brand new, modern facilities. Its compact setting in and around Ring Road gives the school a community feel and you often see the same people travelling back and forth on familiar routes between your classes.

The university is home to several brand new buildings, including the Engineering and Computer Science building, the Social Science and Mathematics building, and the Mearns Centre for Learning. It also houses some of the world's most cutting edge marine biology and astronomy equipment.

UVic is consistently rated as one of the top comprehensive universities in Canada by MacLean's magazine. Its small class sizes ensure opportunities for one-on-one interactions with professors and teaching assistants and ample time in technology and computer labs. The teaching staff includes world-renowned researchers such as the team of professors who participated in the Nobel Peace Prize winning International Panel on Climate Change.

When you aren't studying, the campus is full of activities to keep domestic and international students entertained and engaged. Catch a foreign film at Cineceta in the Student Union Building, see a play at the Phoenix Theatre, or attend a free lecture. There are also one hundred clubs and course unions where students can get involved, organize events, and make long-lasting friends.

Victoria itself is a scenic city at the bottom of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Flowers bloom year round in its temperate climate. You're never far from mountainous ski resorts and some of the best surfing in North America, and you're only a ferry ride away from Canada's second-largest city, Vancouver.

Being a student at UVic entitles you to a student bus pass, which allows you access to the city's public transit system. There are several grocery stores on popular UVic bus routes that stock food from a variety of international cuisines, so you're never far from the taste of home.
